Realistic Goals

After showing the Bennett video to The Husband (yes, I am a proud birthmom to say the very least! ...and I was pretty impressed with myself that I could post a video on the blog without too many malfunctions), he asked if that was why I want a monkey.

...Apparently I have requested a monkey often enough for him to notice that I want one...

Me: I always wanted a monkey!
The Husband: Well, I always wanted a penguin, so...
Me: ... penguins are a lot harder to obtain than monkeys...

Obviously a monkey is a more logistical, realistic goal.
That's a no-brainer.
Jeeze.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

I was sent this video via e-mail yesterday (Monday).
Unfortunately with my hectic schedule (more on that in the future) I wasn't able to view it until today.
But since then I have viewed it about a gazillion-billion-trillion-centillion times.
**FYI: Centillion is 10 to the power of 303 (United States and Modern British)...thanks wikipedia for making me look smart!**

Anyway.
I don't want to brag or anything, but this little Monster is about 20 months, and a GENIUS!
I am so proud of him.
I could gush on forever about how wonderful life has been since B.
He has transformed my life, every day is a gift and a blessing.
I owe him a lot.
He is my favourite gift. For life.

I can hardly wait until our next play-date.
Hopefully we can teach him some variation of my name.
(That would basically make my forever. Just saying.)

If you want to play this video a few times, feel free, I won't judge.

Poking Fun

The conversation after dinner while I was washing the dishes:

Me: *scrubbing away* You can come hug me from behind if you want. And nuzzle my neck a bit.
(inner thought: just like in all the romantic commercials that make house keeping look like a dream!)
The Husband: Why?
Me: Because I feel bloated, my pee burns, and I just gave money to a stranger*...I need a little love.
The Husband: *chuckles
Me: I can put that on the blog if you want. So people can make fun of me.**
The Husband: Sounds good.

*It turns out I am a sucker for solicitors. I feel bad for them! And they always have such a good cause! Early in our marriage I purchased a magazine subscription for some high school guys that came around our neighbourhood. Being the good wifey that I am, I even made sure it was a manly magazine so The Husband couldn't be too mad at me (it was for him after all)...It is now 5 months later and we have yet to receive our first issue. Technically they have one.more.month. to deliver, but I am not holding my breath.
So I figured with this second set of magazine hustlers I would have learned my lesson. And I tried to resist, I really did. But I was no match for his fast-talking compliments and the brisk weather outside. I attempted to make a one-time donation to their cause (a youth group program) but it ended up qualifying us for a magazine anyways, so The Hubs said we might as well get a magazine delivered if we paid enough anyways.
Sigh. I want to be able to trust people. Even if they are scammers. If they are that desperate for my $20, then they probably need it more than I do. But perhaps I will eventually learn my lesson and slam doors in more faces.

**I offer to have people make fun of me because The Husband feels like I put up embarrassing things that he says/does...which is true. So I'm trying to be fair by posting my stupid sayings as well. Hurrah equal embarrassment rights!

*Muah

That is me.
Kissing my savings goodbye.

The Husband found & purchased a trials bike this weekend.

Which is great! Don't get me wrong, this is what we have been saving for, this was in the plan.
It just isn't a super convenient time for me.
Then again, when would be?

At least now I will get to focus my savings on other things.
Goodbye savings, hopefully we shall be reunited after the Christmas Holidays.

Side Note: I had to Google "how to spell a kissy sound" just to make sure I had it right. I care about you, that much!
Double Side Note: The Husband just read the blog post, and he just smiles ear-to-ear whenever his bike comes up. He is spoiled.

Dinner

Last night I lost track of time.
It was 6:15 pm and I had rushed through the door only to tell The Husband that I had a Relief Society activity in 10 minutes.
I wouldn't have time to make him dinner.
He would have to fend for himself.

I tried to rattle off some options, but he said "I'll be fine."
OK. Good enough for me. Off I went.

When I made it back home I asked him how his night went, he listed off some activities, and also included what he ate for dinner.

It went like this:
-- Carrots
-- Doritos
-- A Can of Spaghetti O's

...Amazing.

{almost} Encouragement

If you recall, I joined Jazzercise this summer, and (when I go) it is a blast. But lately, with the cold weather creeping in and my bed being so wonderfully warm, I have been slacking.
Recently I read somewhere that it can be good for a couple to work out together, to motivate each other, offer support, etc.
...No offense to Jord, but I don't want to see him doing the hip walk at Jazzercise. And he doesn't need to see me all red-faced and sweaty. Not my best moments.
So, in an effort to keep us connected as a couple, I told Jord about some goals I would like to set:

  • Go to Jazzercise 3x a week
  • Drink at least 2 bottles of water during day (roughly 4-5 cups)
  • Eat smaller portions
  • Cut back on snacking
Jord had a few goals as well, so we are now prepared to keep each other motivated and remind one another of why we want to exercise. (What a good couple we are!)

As I washed some dishes from dinner I told Jord I have been feeling fat recently (truth!) ...I have picked up 5-8 lbs since we were married and I do not intend to let it hang around. I waited politely for my encouragement, and when it didn't come, I gently suggested he encourage me.

The Husband's Encouragement: But you have a plan!

Not quite what I was looking for.
He eventually found his way to "you are always beautiful," much better.

Leadership

Talking Over Dinner

Me: ...the man is the head of the family, but the woman is the --
The Husband: PANTS!
Me: ...no. Neck. The woman is the neck who moves the head.
          ...Why would you say pants?

The Husband: Haven't you ever heard that expression? "Who wears the pants in the relationship?"
Me: Yes, but I was talking about body parts...
The Husband: ...so?
