{almost} Encouragement

If you recall, I joined Jazzercise this summer, and (when I go) it is a blast. But lately, with the cold weather creeping in and my bed being so wonderfully warm, I have been slacking.
Recently I read somewhere that it can be good for a couple to work out together, to motivate each other, offer support, etc.
...No offense to Jord, but I don't want to see him doing the hip walk at Jazzercise. And he doesn't need to see me all red-faced and sweaty. Not my best moments.
So, in an effort to keep us connected as a couple, I told Jord about some goals I would like to set:

  • Go to Jazzercise 3x a week
  • Drink at least 2 bottles of water during day (roughly 4-5 cups)
  • Eat smaller portions
  • Cut back on snacking
Jord had a few goals as well, so we are now prepared to keep each other motivated and remind one another of why we want to exercise. (What a good couple we are!)

As I washed some dishes from dinner I told Jord I have been feeling fat recently (truth!) ...I have picked up 5-8 lbs since we were married and I do not intend to let it hang around. I waited politely for my encouragement, and when it didn't come, I gently suggested he encourage me.

The Husband's Encouragement: But you have a plan!

Not quite what I was looking for.
He eventually found his way to "you are always beautiful," much better.

Leadership

Talking Over Dinner

Me: ...the man is the head of the family, but the woman is the --
The Husband: PANTS!
Me: ...no. Neck. The woman is the neck who moves the head.
          ...Why would you say pants?

The Husband: Haven't you ever heard that expression? "Who wears the pants in the relationship?"
Me: Yes, but I was talking about body parts...
The Husband: ...so?
